NGCP places Luzon grid under yellow alert
by Christhel Cuazon05 December 2022
The National Grid of the Philippines (NGCP) on Monday placed the Luzon grid under yellow alert after four power plants experienced forced outage.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the yellow alert will be implemented from 1 PM to 4 PM and 5 PM to 7 PM. A yellow alert means that power reserves were below ideal levels.
“Four power plants are on forced outage, while three others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 2,080 MW unavailable to the grid,” the NGCP said.

The Luzon grid has an available capacity of 11,572 MW against a peak demand of 10,548 MW.
