Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique Manalo welcomed the arrival of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the DFA on Wednesday morning, July 6.
Wang is the first foreign counterpart to be received by the newly-appointed Foreign Affairs chief after assuming the post last July 1.

The two foreign leaders held bilateral discussions during their meeting.
“Today’s meeting between Secretary Manalo & SCFM Wang will tackle a wide range of issues, focusing on maintaining and building on the positive trend of relations between the Philippines and China,” DFA said in a tweet.
The Chinese official also met President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in Malacañang earlier this afternoon.
Wang’s last official visit to the Philippines was on January 15-16, 2021 upon the invitation of former DFA Sec. Teodoro Locsin Jr.
