'Darna' co-stars Jane de Leon and Janella Salvador are owning up to the 'unexpected' love team they birthed on the Philippine national television.

Speaking before the MEGA Entertainment's team, where they grace as the cover for March 2023, Jane and Janella, popularly known for their love team 'JaneNella' or 'DarLentina,' were perfectly aware of the comparisons between them even before the legendary Mar's Ravelo series Darna.

However, as the series progressed, viewers were quick to notice the chemistry between the two and began shipping their characters, Narda and Regina, together.

“We were joking about it lang before and people started shipping. They can look at it in a platonic way or not. Whether friends or not, we are happy, we are comfortable about what they label our tandem," Janella said.

For Jane, their love team JaneNella "represents a new generation, where people are more open."

During the interview, the two also teased their co-star Joshua Garcia, who was supposed to foster a love team between De Leon and Salvador by playing their love interests.

"Sorry Josh," the girls quipped.

In the past, Jane and Janella expressed their willingness to work on possible follow-up projects with a GL or Girls Love genre.

"Why not?" De Leon said. "Kasi it's all about the craft din naman, 'di ba kasi artist din kami. So challenge din 'yun sa amin, if ever."

Salvador also expressed willingness to be part of such a project as it will be a big step for the LGBTQ community in the country.

"Simply because, wala pa ngang magandang representation for that aspect, kaya open ako and willing ako. Wholeheartedly, I would do it talaga," she said.

"Feeling ko, gusto lang nila ma-represent ng maayos. Hindi 'yung ma-treat siya na parang it's something different. They want to belong. So parang I think, we should normalize it," she added.
