by Ellicia Del Mundo28 June 2023

A week-long gun ban will be enforced in Bacoor City in Cavite province starting June 28 until August 5.

In an advisory, the City Government of Bacoor said the suspension of the Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) took effect at 12 midnight on June 28.

The gun ban was enforced in adherence to the Commission on Election’s (Comelec) Resolution 10917 which was promulgated for the conduct of plebiscites in various barangays in Bacoor scheduled on July 28.

Earlier this month, Carmona City also implemented a gun ban for its cityhood plebiscite slated on July 8.

The PTCFOR was suspended until the end of July 15.

Meanwhile, interviewed by Cavite Press Corps., Philippine National Police (PNP) - Cavite Provincial Director Christopher Olazo said the Cavite Police are prepared for the two plebiscites in the province.

“Marami tayong augmentation at the same time, marami tayong force multiplier na tutulong sa atin. Tayo ay nakahanda na sa mga plebsito na mangyayari sa Carmona sa July 8. All systems go na tayo,” he said.
