Filipina rower Joanie Delgaco qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
Delgaco booked a ticked to the Paris Games after finishing fourth in the 2024 World Rowing Asian and Oceania Olympic Qualification Regatta on Saturday, April 20, in Chungju, South Korea.
The 26-year old rower clocked in seven minutes and 49.39 seconds to grab one of the five available Olympic slots available in the women’s single sculls event.
Since 1988, the Philippines only has four rowers, including Delgaco, who qualified for the Olympics.
"She proudly becomes the first Filipina rowing Olympian and the 12 qualified athlete, inspiring a nation with her determination and passion for excellence," the Philippine Olympic Committee said in a Facebook post.
The 2024 Olympic will formally open on July 26 and run until August 11.
