Gymnastics star Carlos Yulo once again proved his mettle as he triumphed in the floor exercise event at the Asian Senior Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Singapore on Saturday, June 17.
The 23-year-old sensation, who has already secured two world championship titles, left spectators in awe as he dominated the highly competitive field of eight athletes.
With an astounding score of 15.300 points, Yulo outshone his closest rival, Dimitriy Patanin of Kazakhstan, by a full point (14.366), while China's Su Weide claimed the bronze medal with 14.333 points.
Yulo's performance was marked by an impressive degree of difficulty, earning him a score of 6.300, the highest among all competitors.
He showcased flawless execution, earning a score of 9.000. His exceptional skills were evident from the outset, as he led the qualifiers on Thursday, June 15, with a score of 14.966.
On the other hand, Yulo's cousin, John Ivan Cruz, the reigning Southeast Asian Games champion, finished in eighth and final place with a score of 11.433.
Fans eagerly await Yulo's performance in the vault event on Sunday, June 18, where he is expected to add more accolades to his already impressive collection.
However, he narrowly missed the podium in the still rings, securing the fourth spot with a score of 14.033.
The top three positions were claimed by Lan Xingyu of China (15.200), Nguyen Van Khanh Phong of Vietnam (14.366), and Ng Kiu Chung of Hong Kong (14.100).
In a previous event last Thursday, Yulo secured the silver medal in the individual all-around competition, further cementing his status as a top gymnast.
The World Championships serve as one of the qualifiers for the much-anticipated 2024 Paris Olympics, where Yulo aims to make his second appearance on the international stage, showcasing his exceptional talent and representing his country with pride.
