Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly is scheduled to visit the country from May 18 to May 21 to work on bilateral cooperation and Canada's implementation of the Indo-Pacific Strategy.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the Canadian government said Joly is set to meet Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and other Cabinet members during her visit.
It said that the discussion will center on “regional security and stability, maintenance of a rules-based international order, Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy, and partnership with ASEAN [Association of Southeast Asian Nations].”
“Minister Joly will also engage with government officials, academics, non-governmental organizations, and civil society leaders to gain insights into the challenges facing the Philippines and the region,” the Canadian government said.
Before arriving in Manila, the Canadian Minister will travel to Seoul for three days, from May 15 to 17, to support economic growth and security cooperation.
