TV Host not incline on MTRCB’s proposed Comedy Academy

Popular TV Host Luis Manzano isn’t keen on the Movie Television Review and Classification Board’s appeal to TV networks to put up their own Comedy Academy.

MTRCB Chairman Toto Villareal made the proposal after the “rape” joke of Vice Ganda against veteran journalist Jessica Soho during his recent concert at the Big Dome.

Manzano pointed out that you can’t teach on how a joke can be effective and or how you can deliver a punch line.

The TV Host added that it’s in a person’s innate nature to be funny and being able to get the proper timing in delivering a joke, which is the case of Vice Ganda.

Manzano came into Vice Ganda’s defense by saying that the comedian may have committed a mistake once but you can’t deny that his talent.

A lot of artists have expressed their opposition regarding the MTRCB’s proposal, including Giselle Sanchez and Anne Curtis.

However, the MTRCB is bent on pursuing the said proposition.   (Judie Anne Abejero)

The issue of Vice Ganda’s offensive joke opened up more serious issues concerning styles on delivering comedy.

Vice Ganda personally called veteran TV journalist Jessica Soho, after being ridiculed in one of his punch lines during his concert at the Araneta Coliseum.

The host of “Its Showtime” also issued a public apology after Soho refused to forgive him, but she did, though, recognized Vice’s apology.

However, Vice clarified that his style of making people laugh is normal in comedy bars.

Because of this, the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board reminded the three big networks to put a limit on their comedy shows.

The MTRCB pointed out that the target audience for tv shows and comedy bars are different, therefore punch lines should be different too.

The said agency said that their coverage only allows them to monitor tv shows and movies, and the Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas is in-charge of the artists.   (Judie Anne Abejero)
