8 BIFF members dead after clash with soldiers

Eight suspected members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) died after a clash with government forces in Maguindanao.

Five BIFF members were identified as Kamad Karok, Bro Bambalan, Iskak Kudto, Kidsel Manedsel and Sadal Samama.

Based on the report, at 5:25 a.m. yesterday when the BIFF members shot and hijacked an oil tanker and cargo truck at Macasampan-Bagan national highway.

Prior to this, a bomb also exploded near the site where another rebel was said to be killed. (Luisito Antonio Santos)


CDO officials on hot seat after blast

Officials of the Cagayan De Oro City Police are in hot waters after the latest explosion in a restaurant bar inside a shopping complex in the said city.

According to Philippine National Police Chief Director General Alan Purisima, he wants to know who ordered the immediate cleaning of the scene of the crime which was against the standard operating procedure in any crime.

Purisima also castigated the cops of the city because the bombing happened amid the existing full alert status in the Mindanao region.

The PNP Chief already gave a directive to Police Regional Office 10 Director Chief Supt. Catalino Rodriguez to know if the Police committed any violation with the said explosion.

The suspect was able to place the bomb inside the restaurant without the police noticing it.   The explosion left eight persons dead and around 40 people injured.   (Rey Sibayan)


Bulacan mayor faces grave misconduct, abuse raps

Norzagaray Bulacan Mayor Alfredo Germar is facing a tough test, not in his office but in the court after employees complained of grave misconduct and grave abuse.

The case stemmed from angered construction and maintenance of the municipal engineer’s office complaining against Germar.

Based on the affidavit, Germar called the two maintenance workers after the flag ceremony on Monday and were lambasted while inside the municipal.

Not contented, the Mayor punched a complainant in the chest.

After the incident, Germar asked the two employees to come with him inside his office where he again cussed at the two.

According to the complainant, the mayor was mad because of Germar claim that he was one who distributed the disqualification case against Germar. (Kisses Jabson)


Thunderous gunshots startle Datu Piang residents

Loud gunshots from high-caliber guns woke Datu Piang, Maguindanao residents early this morning.

In the report of Jun Dimacutac, DZRH’s Central Mindanao correspondent, they received a report from soldiers that their headquarters in Brgy. Magaslong were attacked by forces of the Bangsamoro Islamic freedom fighters.

Doubts from the residents worsened after rumors circulate that the BIFF is being helped by a third party from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines 6th infantry division are still confirming if the MILF is helping the BIFF despite the peace agreement between the government and the MILF. (Kisses Jabson)


56 victims rescued as boat capsizes

56 passengers including the boat’s crew were rescued as their fast craft was hit by strong waves.

The Wessam Express 7 fast craft was on its way to Cebu when its machine died and was hit by strong waves.

It was fortunate that it hasn’t made it far from the fort of Ormoc City.

The Philippine Coast Guard, Ormoc Rescue and Bureau of Fire Protection joined forces in rescuing the victims.

The rescue team used stairs and rope where they made up a zip line for the immediate rescuing of the said passengers.

It took more than an hour for the rescue team to do their rescue.

Meanwhile, an old person was brought to the hospital after he felt dizzy.  (Rey Sibayan)
