Tarlac police arrest Anakpawis representative

Tarlac police have arrested Anakpawis representative Fernando Hicap while at the Hacienda Luisita on Tuesday.

Hicap along with 10 others were arrested just before noon after they exited Brgy. Balete, a part of Hacienda Luisita.

The Anakpawis representative went to Hacienda Luisita to talk with farmers who are complaining about the construction of an army detachment in Brgy. Balete.

Four charges are to be filed against Hicap, including illegal assembly, direct assault, trespassing to dwelling and malicious mischief. (Malou R. Cabral)

 

MNLF releases PNP official and members

The rebel group Moro National Liberation Front released yesterday Zamboanga OIC Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo and other members of the PNP.

Early yesterday morning, after news broke out that there were hostages released by the MNLF, the group of Col. Malayo were then taken captives by the group in Brgy. Mampang.

Col. Malayo’s group went to the Mangrove area in hopes of trying to convince the rebels to release their hostages.

However, they were surprised when instead of heeding to their request they found themselves surrounded by armed members of the MNLF.

Col. Malayo was released last night together with alleged 23 rebels who surrendered.   (Rey SIbayan)

 

3 MNLF members arrested

The three members of the Moro National Liberation Front arrested by authorities were presented to the media.

The rebels were identified as Udong Magjawari, 19 years old; Awna Hajaran, 30 years old; and Alimuddin Hussein, 35 years old.

15 high powered firearms, an armalite, a 50 caliber and mortar were confiscated from the suspects.

According to the arrested MNLF members, they were forced to join the group in exchange of 10 to 15 thousand pesos.   (Judie Anne Abejero)


   

Family of hazing victim to pursue frat men after Cavite RTC junks case

The family of hazing victim Marc Andrei Ramos will pursue the 14 members of the Lex Leonum fraternity after the Cavite Regional Trial Court junked the case against the frat men who allegedly killed Ramos.

Ramos’ aunt, Atty. Mariemeir Marcis-Rivera insisted that the first court decision saw probable cause against the accused.

Ramos died on July 30 last year due to injuries after the initiation rites of the fraternity. (Luisito Antonio Santos)

 

Authorities trace celluar phone of slain Davantes

Authorities are now tracing the cellular phone of slain victim Kristelle Davantes, who was killed last week in Silang, Cavite.

According to Supt. Dario Roxas, chief of the Silang, Cavite police, friends of Kristelle can provide leads in connection to the motive and who’s behind her killing.

Davantes’ body was found under a bridge in Silang last Saturday.
